In any academic paper it is important to mix your ideas with other author’s. This helps to not only solidify your standpoint but can also help to further your ideas or help to flush out any naysayers. In the first paragraph of my essay I introduce both Strawson and Beck and summarize the ideas that both of them present. Directly after this I offer my thesis which can be seen to directly correlate to Beck. When first explaining how I believe my life is a story, I quote Beck and then explain how that quote relates back to me and my argument. I then analyze how each part of that quotes relates to my story and what she said meant to my story. I did this a few more times with quotes from Beck. However, I also used quotes to support a naysayer paragraph. For this I quoted Strawson and analyzed how his own argument is flawed which in turn made my own argument stronger. I finally used my own narrative project to quote “the judge” in support of Strawson’s ideas. This shows how I was able to express the values of learning outcome two and integrate other people’s ideas by quoting, summary, analysis and synthesis of my own new ideas.
