Peer review is not only helpful for whoever you are reviewing, but also for yourself and your own thoughts. It gives the person new ideas and different thoughts to build off of or maybe what not to do. It also gives myself more ideas. There are many times where I may read something my peers have wrote and I go “wow, that was really good, I think I might incorporate something similar into my work”. When peer reviewing I try my best to first comment on what the author has done well and I may mark claims or good introductions. Then I go back and reread it and comment on what needs improvement. For example I commented “in this paragraph I would try to add more about yourself after the quote about how you disagree”.This shows how they did well but needed more analysis, it was all there it just needed to be pushed out more. This learning outcome has helped me to focus first on global revisions because local revisions can be fixed later in the process. Below are pictures of my peer review of a peer’s work.
