Revisions is one of the most important items within the recursive writing process. It is the place to fine tune your work and to truly ensure it is at your best. Peer review sessions, for me, help a lot to do this. It helps for me to have others read my work and have them to bounce ideas off of. My work is just that it is mine but sometimes I may overlook aspects because I am so familiar with it so it is very important to myself to get a second or third set of eyes on my paper. In regards to global revisions, I did not have many in this final paper, of which I thought was the best work of myself. The biggest global revision I faced was in the paragraph that I incorporated my narrative interview into. In my original draft I neglected to introduce “the judge” because his story is so close to me, I overlooked adding it. My peers commented on this and for my final draft I incorporated an introduction of who he is and what he has done. Another global revision they pushed me towards was asking questions throughout my piece, not only did it make me think about what I was writing but it makes the reader think about what they are reading. Finally, I added a few sentences to explain why this paper was worthwhile to read and why it is important and everyone can relate to it in some way. In regards to local edits, I did not come across many run on sentences, I simply cited all of the sources and made sure to have my in text citations correct. Both these revision types are crucial in the writing process. The overall learning outcome was achieved by going through both of these editing types and truly treating this writing assignment as a process.
